Sharmila Gunasingham, a member of the Indo-Pacific Centre’s Board of Directors was invited to speak at The Mahinda Rajapaksa Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 27 August 2019. Her remarks spoke to the importance of think-tanks in nation building.

She spoke to the Singapore experience, on how think tanks were able to play a cohesive role in Singapore by fostering objective reasoning amongst government, private sector, academia and other key stakeholder groups. Think-tanks in Singapore serve as vital sounding boards for domestic policy making and work across political parties and the political spectrum.
